The Turing Scheme has now opened for applications.

The deadline for applications is Thursday 6 April 2023, 4.00pm.

To help you prepare for the application process, we’ve compiled some useful tips to ensure you start your funding application on the right path.

1. Check your eligibility

One of the first steps you should take before starting your application is to check your organisation is eligible to take part. The Turing Scheme is funding organisations working in sectors across higher education, schools, further education and vocational education and training.

Applications for Turing Scheme funding can only be made by organisations based in the UK, or British Overseas Territories, rather than individuals or participants.

2. Know your priorities

The Turing Scheme is funding projects that focus on four main aims:

  • enhancing existing partnerships and forging new relationships across the world
  • helping and promoting equal access and opportunities to all students, learners and pupils regardless of background
  • offering unique and career-building opportunities
  • offering value for the UK taxpayer, optimising social value in terms of potential costs, benefits and risks

In the application, you are asked to explain how your project will meet these objectives in a series of questions.

Therefore, you should consider carefully how the project’s activities relate to the priorities and make sure this is clearly demonstrated in your answers.

3. Read the programme guide

One vital part of preparing for your funding application is reading the programme guide (2 MB). Ensure you check the funding rules and eligibility criteria, as well as familiarising yourself with the programme’s objectives.

4. Plan ahead

It’s always best to start your funding application as early as possible, giving you enough time to plan and prepare. This also helps avoid potential technical issues if submitting your application close to the  deadline and allows for any last-minute changes your application needs.

5. Remember your application ID

The form will provide you with an application ID so you can save it at any time before submission. This will appear at the bottom of the screen on the Introduction section of the form. Keep a note of this ID code so you can continue editing your application, rather than having to begin a new one.

6. Check your application thoroughly

Before submitting your application, it’s vital to check and re-check your form to ensure you have included all necessary information. Ask a colleague to read it through as they will have a fresh perspective and can highlight any errors or missing details.

7. Use our application support resources

We have prepared a range of resources to support your Turing Scheme application. Take advantage of resources such as our recorded webinars and application guide which you can find under the application support tab on the funding opportunities page for your sector.
